Farewell Reception for Ambassador and Mrs. Fujisasaki

Secretary Norman Mineta presents Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki and Mrs. Yoriko Fujisaki with gifts of thanks and appreciation on behalf of USJC. 

Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki and his wife Mrs. Yoriko Fujisaki have been true supporters of the Japanese American community and especially, the U.S.-Japan Council. To honor them and give thanks, the U.S.-Japan Council held a reception on Monday, Nov. 5th preceding the couple's return to Japan. The reception was held at the offices of Arnold & Porter in Washington,DC thanks to the support of Board Member Susan Morita. The intimate gathering featured remarks by Secretary Norman Mineta who presented Ambassador Fujisaki and Mrs. Yoriko Fujisaki with gifts. He also bestowed upon them the title of "Honorary Japanese American." Ambassador Fujisaki also gave remarks and Deputy Assistant Secretary James Zumwalt delivered the kanpai (toast) after his closing remarks.

The reception was attended by Washington, DC community members and Council Members including individuals from the U.S.-Japan Research Institute, National Bureau of Asian Research, Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies, U.S.-Japan Friendship Commission, Japanese American Veterans Association, U.S. Department of State, United States Navy and many others. We were also pleased to welcome our friends from the business community including Toyota Motor North America, Lockheed Martin, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Ltd., Mitsubishi International Corporation, Nomura and Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A), Inc.
