The two-day summit was a gathering of Nikkei leaders from across the U.S. Many attendees had visited Japan as a part of the Japanese American Leadership Delegation program. The summit, organized by Bay Area JALD alumni, featured a panel discussion on the new Obama Administration and possible U.S. policy changes toward Japan, as well as remarks on the bilateral relationship by Senator Daniel K. Inouye and Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki.
