The U.S.-Japan Council is seeking an intern for our Washington, DC office. The intern would provide support for programs, communications and development on a part-time or full-time basis leading up to the 2017 USJC Annual Conference

This is an excellent internship for those hoping to gain experience in the programmatic, digital and strategic marketing and/or nonprofit development fields. USJC's internship program offers outstanding opportunities for college students, graduate students and graduates who are interested in U.S.-Japan relations. 

An intern’s duties generally consist of program and event coordination and support, website/social media support, organization and attendance at special events, outreach and communication, writing and translation (if able). Duties may be tailored to the intern’s interests.  All internships are unpaid.  


  • A patient, diplomatic demeanor
  • Flexibility and the ability to multi-task
  • Technologically savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Able to quickly learn new programs
  • Experience working in an office setting
  • Native or near-native English ability, and some Japanese language or experience with Japan preferred
