Dear Friends,
We want to share our profound gratitude with all of you. The loss of our founding president Irene Hirano Inouye is devastating, both for those who knew her personally and those who followed her many great contributions to U.S.-Japan relations. As we mourn her passing, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from our community.
Many of you have requested to send your condolences to Irene’s family. In order to share your messages while respecting their space and privacy during this difficult time, we have worked with them to create an email address through USJC. If you would like to share your sympathies, fond memories and photos, or stories about Irene’s impact on your personal and professional journey, please email [email protected]. We hope to share some of these memories with you on a tribute webpage to Irene in the coming days (please indicate in your email if you prefer your message not be shared publicly.)
Irene’s family has asked that, in lieu of flowers or cards, donations be made in her name to the U.S.-Japan Council.
Thank you again for your compassion, understanding and support. We are immensely grateful for your kind thoughts, which have propelled our resolve to continue Irene’s work through the U.S.-Japan Council.
Sincerely,
The U.S.-Japan Council
