Otsukimi Moon-Viewing

The USJC Shin-Issei group steering committee organized an “Otsukimi” moon-viewing themed networking night on September 16. Twenty-two participants joined from across the regions with bunny ears and full-moon virtual backgrounds. Four break-out discussion groups were conducted and participants discussed four different topics: 1) Building a transpacific career, 2) Figuring out bilingual education, 3) Fall is for eating & reading, and 4) When can we travel again? Other topics discussed included how to manage the visa/citizenship process, raising bilingual children, finding (and not finding) Japanese ingredients locally, and traveling to Japan during COVID.

The Shin-Issei group organizes these casual networking events on a quarterly basis and the next gathering will be in January 2022.

Many thanks to Yuko Watanabe for this recap!
