USJC’s Emerging Leaders Program Class of 2021 Kicks off their Virtual Leadership Training

On Thursday, January 20, members of the ELP class of 2021 participated in the kick off to their virtual leadership training series. The session was entitled, “USJC Sponsor Session: Stories From Family-led Companies,” and included a panel featuring ELP sponsors Courtney Taira, President, King’s Hawaiian Retail, Inc, and ELP 2019, and Tyler Tokioka, Chairman, Island Insurance Company, Ltd. The panel was moderated by Rona Tison, Executive Vice President – Corporate Relations, ITO EN (North America) Inc. Ms. Taira and Mr. Tokioka shared their family histories, philosophies that have led to company successes, and challenges along the way. ITO EN (North America) Inc.’s CEO Yosuke Honjo also shared the company history and words of advice with the group.

The cohort’s programming began in the fall of 2021 with USJC’s Signature Series and networking events. In 2022, it will feature monthly sessions on leadership as well as additional networking events with program alumni.

We would like to thank our speakers for their time and words of wisdom, and all the program supporters who have given so generously over the years.
