Join the USJC Japan region for a hanami-kai event when cherry blossoms are in full bloom! Start your spring season with great company and wishes for the upcoming year with a selection of omusubi and an omusubi making workshop with Miki Yamada from WARAI MUSUBI \u221e. We will enjoy a picnic under the trees along with a workshop by Miki to help set our intentions and think about challenges and wishes for the year as we make “shio musubi” together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About WARAI MUSUBI \u221e and Miki Yamada: You will have seen Miki at the USJC x TOMODACHI Shinnenkai earlier this year. Born in Fukushima to a family of rice farmers, Miki travels the world to unravel the meaning of “omusubi,” which she believes is key for human beings to live with peace and contentment. WARAI MUSUBI \u221e was started as a project to revitalize her hometown in Fukushima after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake. The word “omusubi” refers to rice balls and usually is used to mean “knot” or “to connect,” but its original meaning is “musuhi,” which means “to give birth.” Miki hopes that renewed spirit and joy will be born from “omusubi” as it connects people, countries, regions, and hearts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
