Chef Morishita is the Executive Chef at Perry\u2019s in Washington D.C.; an award-winning restaurant that has been pivotal in introducing Japanese dishes\u2013beyond ramen and sushi\u2013to diners in the nation\u2019s capital. Hailing from Kobe, Japan, Chef Morishita is the first Japanese-born woman to helm the restaurant\u2019s kitchen, and is the\u00a0winner of the James Beard Foundation\u2019s 2024 Emerging Chef Award. Before finding her way into the culinary world, Morishita made her name in the world of sports by becoming the Washington Commanders cheer squad&#8217;s first captain from overseas. She is currently the Managing Producer of Podcasts at America\u2019s Test Kitchen, where she leads development and serves as head story editor for the flagship podcast, Proof, and the talk show, In the Test Kitchen. She previously served as host and reporter for Channel News Asia\u2019s Deciphering Japan, a four-part docuseries exploring current events in Japan. Before that, she managed the Center for Strategic and International Studies\u2019 suite of policy podcasts and reported on domestic and international issues for NPR\u2019s On Point and The Yomiuri Shimbun.
