Cryptocurrencies and stablecoins are rapidly reshaping the global financial landscape, raising important questions about security, regulation, and international cooperation. In this fireside chat, Webacy CEO Maika Isogawa and Coinbase Engineering Lead Yuga Cohler (ELP ’19) will discuss the fundamentals of crypto, the emerging policy environment in the United States and Japan, and the role of security infrastructure in building trust in digital assets. The conversation will also explore how the two countries can work together to shape the future of financial innovation in the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maika is the CEO of Webacy, the leading risk engine for digital assets, building AI-driven risk and due diligence infrastructure for the next generation of financial markets. She has also played a visible role in strengthening U.S.-Japan ties across technology, culture, and innovation, serving as an MC and host for cross-cultural programs and conferences like NCC, and as the anchor of Earthshot TV, an international startup showcase produced by Digital Garage. Maika is a former professional acrobat and performer for Cirque Du Soleil. She attended Stanford University and specialized in Artificial Intelligence. She is a Forbes 30 Under 30 lister and the recipient of the Innovative Web3 Female Entrepreneur Award.

Yuga Cohler is an Engineering Lead at Coinbase, where he leads onchain development for the company\u2019s Developer Platform. Prior to Coinbase, Yuga worked at Google for eight years, leading a variety of teams across Cloud and Search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of Japanese and American descent, Yuga speaks Japanese fluently and is an Associate Member of the U.S.-Japan Council. In 2023, he was awarded the David Rockefeller Fellowship by the Trilateral Commission, and in 2024, he became a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has appeared as a speaker at the Aspen Ideas Festival, and his work has been featured in publications such as TIME Magazine, The Atlantic, and the Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuga graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College where he studied computer science, and from the Juilliard School where he studied orchestral conducting.
