We invite you to join the Shin-Issei Affinity Group for an engaging conversation on the idea of a \u201cdual life\u201d across the United States and Japan – how we as Shin-Issei can maintain meaningful ties to Japan while building a life in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This session will explore what it looks like in practice, the opportunities it offers, and the challenges it may present. Following a panel session in Japanese, participants will have the choice of English or Japanese breakout room and mingle with fellow Shin-Isseis. Whether you are curious about spending more time in Japan, navigating cross-border lifestyles, or simply staying connected to your heritage, this discussion aims to provide insights, shared experiences, and most importantly, a supportive forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shiori Okazaki<\/strong>
President, Shiori Communications, USJC Council Leader, ALC ’25<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Through her podcast, CrossWorld Puzzles<\/a>, Shiori has interviewed individuals who have found a home away from home across the globe. Having grown up in both Hawaii and Japan and now based in Washington, D.C., she frequently visits family in Tokyo and hopes to continue to balance her time between her two home countries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Yoshi Okamoto<\/strong>
Representative Director, Japan, Renaissance Philanthropy, USJC Council Leader<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Nagoya, Yoshi considers both Shonan, Japan, and Denver, Colorado, to be home. As the head of Japan for a global organization, he leads a fast-paced life, traveling frequently throughout Japan, Singapore, and major U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nobu Hiraguri<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After spending his first twenty years in Osaka and the next twenty in Tokyo, Nobu relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, three daughters, and their dog.
