During its latest virtual event, the NorCal Region of the U.S.-Japan Council hosted a webinar titled, \u201cElection Aftermath: Navigating the Future of U.S.-Japan Relations Across Security, Business, and Trade\u201d on November 14. The panel brought together renowned experts, including USJC Board of Councilors Member Glen S. Fukushima (Securities Investor Protection Corporation; Center for American Progress), Professor Steven K. Vogel and Council Leader Kenji Kushida (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace) to share their insights on how the results of the U.S. election and the return of Donald Trump to the presidency may shape one of the most significant bilateral alliances in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderated by USJC NorCal Planning Committee member and Associate Robert Roche (University of California, Berkeley), the discussion explored key issues such as regional security in the Indo-Pacific, the future of the innovation ecosystem in Japan and the implications of shifting U.S. foreign policy priorities for Japan\u2019s political and economic strategies. Panelists offered a high-level analysis of these developments and their potential impact on sectors ranging from technology to defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees participated in a lively Q&A session, further exploring the nuanced challenges and opportunities facing the U.S.-Japan relationship under the new administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
