On January 8 2025, the USJC Healthcare and Advanced Medicine Affinity Group welcomed Council Leader Julie Azuma (Different Road to Learning, JALD ’13), who led a fascinating and educational discussion titled \u201cThe Early Steps Towards Independence for Students on the Autism Spectrum.\u201d

Ms. Azuma brings decades of experience to the conversation, having founded and currently serving as president to Different Roads to Learning, Inc., which markets educational products that help students on the autism spectrum. During the webinar, she described how increasing awareness and acceptance of autism has changed the landscape in the United States, with a major focus on providing better support for the families of children with autism.
