{"id":42608,"date":"2023-06-08T21:46:14","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T21:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.usjapancouncil.org\/?page_id=42608"},"modified":"2024-07-08T21:04:36","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T21:04:36","slug":"2023-emerging-leaders-program-application","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.usjapancouncil.org\/ja\/2023-emerging-leaders-program-application\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Emerging Leaders Program Application"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Please read carefully and complete the form below to apply for the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usjapancouncil.org\/emerging-leaders-program\/\"><em>202<\/em>3 <em>Emerging Leaders Program<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please make note of these important dates when submitting your application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Informational sessions with ELP alumni (optional):&nbsp;<ul><li>Session 1 &#8211;<strong> <\/strong>Wednesday June 28, 5:00-6:00 pm (PT)<\/li><li>Session 2 &#8211; Thursday, July 6, 5:00-6:00 pm (PT) <\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please register <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdXRxnxKfqq1Dct3XwDwnHKQujZMqWCHNet1-F4pp-l5v1POA\/viewform\">here<\/a> if you are interested in attending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> <strong>July<\/strong> <strong>16, 2023,<\/strong> <strong>11:59 PM (PT)<\/strong><\/li><li>Application review period: July-August<\/li><li>Notifications: Mid-September via email to all\u00a0applicants<\/li><li>Pre-Conference Orientation (virtual): October 11, 4:00pm (PT)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usjapancouncil.org\/2023-annual-conference\/\">2023 U.S.-Japan Council Annual Conference<\/a>: November 7-11 in Washington, DC<\/li><li>Post-Conference debrief (virtual): December 7, 3:00pm (PT)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criteria and Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Japanese American professionals 24-35 years of age at the time of the Conference.<\/li><li>Hold U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency.<\/li><li>Applicants must reside in the United States or Japan, and must be available to travel to Washington, DC for the Annual Conference in November.<\/li><li>Strong interest in U.S.-Japan relations as demonstrated through professional, academic, extra-curricular or community involvement.<\/li><li>Demonstrated leadership experience.<\/li><li>Commitment to remain involved in U.S.-Japan relations by engaging in U.S.-Japan Council programs and initiatives.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In making the final selection, diversity of geography, gender and professional background will be given consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Offerings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect with USJC\u2019s global community of diverse leaders and develop professional skills, strengthen networks, and build powerful relationships through participation in ELP. Selected applicants will receive transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, and Conference registration. Additionally, at the Conference they will become&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usjapancouncil.org\/membership\">U.S.-Japan Council Associates<\/a>&nbsp;with the first year&#8217;s membership dues waived (membership is normally by invitation and nomination). Participants will also be invited to participate in ELP alumni and USJC regional programming throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Need to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the application process, candidates will be asked to upload a PDF packet including documents 1-3 below, as well as a short introductory video.
