Ms. Leona Hiraoka

Ms. Hiraoka is the principal officer of Zwig, a company helping small and midsize nonprofits fill gaps in expertise and services needed to thrive. Formerly with Snider Strategies and President & CEO of Keiro, a Los Angeles nonprofit advancing the quality of senior life for the Japanese community, she has an extensive background with nonprofits and associations, as well as mainstream and advocacy journalism. She was a founding partner of Integrated Media, a marketing and communications firm in Washington, DC, and vice president for Points of Light, an international nonprofit advancing volunteer service and corporate social responsibility. She served on the executive staff of the National Education Association from 2002-12 and prior to that was on the editorial staffs of The New Republic and The Wilson Quarterly. She serves on the board of the Japanese American Citizens League DC chapter and previously served on the editorial boards of the Pacific Citizen and the Brussels-based NGO Education International. She received a B.A. in biology from Pomona College. A member of the 2014 JALD delegation, Ms. Hiraoka has served on the USJC Board of Directors since 2016; has chaired the USJC Communications Committee; and now serves on the USJC Nominating and Governance Committee.
