Join us for our fifth Kaiwa Series where we will hear from Courtney Taira, a third generation member of the family behind King’s Hawaiian, the bakery brand known for its delicious sweet rolls loved by many across the United States. Courtney serves as President at King’s Hawaiian Retail, Inc and Chief Culinary Officer & Brand Advisor at Hello Hilo, a newly launched fast casual restaurant in Gainesville, Georgia, serving Hawaii-inspired eats and treats. Courtney is an associate member of the U.S.-Japan Council and an alumnus of the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) Class of 2019.

The session will be moderated by Robert Gondo, Director at Tokyo Gardens Catering, a food services enterprise in Houston, Texas, operating over 400 sushi bars in colleges, hospitals, corporations and more. Robert is an associate member of the U.S.-Japan Council and an alumnus of the ELP Class of 2019. Robert’s experience and identity as a second generation in his family business will make for a unique yet candid conversation with Courtney on the excitement and challenges of being part of the next generation of a family enterprise.

Audience is encouraged to send questions and comments in the chatbox.
