USJC Co-Hosts Reception at Ambassador’s Residence in DC in Honor of Norman Mineta

Secretary Norman Y. Mineta at the 2018 Annual Conference in Tokyo

The U.S.-Japan Council was privileged to co-host a memorial reception at Ambassador TOMITA Koji’s residence following services for former USJC Vice Chair Secretary Norman Mineta on June 11, 2022. USJC shared co-hosting duties with several organizations that Secretary Norman Mineta held in high esteem, including the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation, and the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). JANM CEO Ann Burroughs and Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation Board Chair Shirley Ann Higuchi, who are both USJC Council Leaders, spoke and shared their memories with Norm. Several other USJC members attended including JACL Executive Director David Inoue (JALD ‘18). We at the Council are grateful for the hospitality shown by Ambassador TOMITA Koji and his staff as we gathered to remember Secretary Mineta’s incredible legacy.
