On Wednesday, October 9, U.S.-Japan Council members and prospective members gathered in Seattle for an evening filled with ikigai inspiration and meaningful community connections. The event, held in collaboration with the USJC, featured a special live recording of the Ikigai Stories Podcast, spotlighting Dr. Britt Yamamoto ( Hyakusho Creative, JALD ’19) and his thought-provoking new book, The Soil of Leadership.
USJC Council Leader Sam Ushio (Connect3x) interviewed Dr. Yamamoto, diving into how his experiences as a sustainable farmer in Japan led to a deep understanding of leadership’s connection to sustainability and well-being. The dialogue touched on key leadership tenets such as purpose-driven decision-making, cultivating resilience in organizational culture, and the long-term impact of integrating sustainability into leadership practices. The conversation included a Q&A session, allowing the audience to dive deeper into the conversation. This engaging episode is slated for release in November.
