The Early Steps Towards Independence for Students on the Autism Spectrum

On January 8 2025, the USJC Healthcare and Advanced Medicine Affinity Group welcomed Council Leader Julie Azuma (Different Road to Learning, JALD ’13), who led a fascinating and educational discussion titled “The Early Steps Towards Independence for Students on the Autism Spectrum.”

Ms. Azuma brings decades of experience to the conversation, having founded and currently serving as president to Different Roads to Learning, Inc., which markets educational products that help students on the autism spectrum. During the webinar, she described how increasing awareness and acceptance of autism has changed the landscape in the United States, with a major focus on providing better support for the families of children with autism. Her company continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the wellbeing of these students and their families across the country.
