On May 21, Midwest USJC members and friends attended a concert of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Japanese conductor Kazuki Yamada, featuring Takemitsu’s “How Slow the Wind,” Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Franck’s Symphony in D Minor.
The after-concert meeting with conductor Yamada was arranged by Council Leader Stephen Toyoda, president of the Japanese Culture Center and Japanese Arts Foundation which presented a Japanese culture exhibition prior to the performance.
