Lauren Matsumoto

Lauren Matsumoto is Program Manager for the U.S.-Japan Council, working remotely from San Diego, California. Previously, the Senior Coordinator of Member Engagement for USJC. Her current primary responsibilities are to advance the mission of USJC's signature, regional, and educational programs.

Prior to joining USJC, Lauren worked as a Senior Client Delivery Analyst at Hive AI in San Francisco. Lauren also brings over ten years of community leadership to USJC. She previously was a student leader for UC San Diego’s Nikkei Student Union and San Diego Chapter of the Japanese American Citizen League and a student organizer of Matsuri at UC San Diego and Manzanar at Dusk. Currently, Lauren serves as the President of Nikkei Rising, a subdivision of Japanese-American Memorial Pilgrimages, and an organizer for Manzanar Committee's Katari program, which she was an inaugural student participant.

Lauren holds a B.A. in International Studies - International Business with a focus in East Asia and a double minor in Japanese Studies and Accounting from the University of California, San Diego. She was a Kakehashi Project participant and in her junior year of college studied abroad at International Christian University.
