Today, the importance of sound science and international cooperation has come to the fore of global attention as all nations seek to protect the health of their citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic. Increasingly science and technology are tightly intertwined with our lives and our society’s ability to enhance well being and address common threats. These areas include energy and climate change, artificial intelligence, gene design, the peaceful use of space, quantum computing, global nutrition, and cybersecurity.
The wise development and use of science and technology on a global scale will require thoughtful diplomacy among governments. However, the international political environment has become increasingly complex.
The speakers will discuss the changing landscape of science, technology and diplomacy, and the role of U.S.-Japan relations.
